Albert Raty Collection
Discover the largest public collection of Albert Raty’s works—the master of Ardennes painting. This permanent exhibition features 30 major canvases tracing his unique evolution between Impressionism and Expressionism.

Albert Raty: The Ardennes Master
Born in 1895 in Vresse-sur-Semois, Albert Raty is considered one of the greatest Ardennes painters of the 20th century. Trained at the Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he developed a unique style blending Impressionism and Expressionism, with a deep love for the landscapes of his native region. The Centre houses several of his masterpieces, including “The Semois at Dusk” and “The Rocks of Chaleux.”

Did You Know? The Building’s History
The Centre occupies the former Maison Bourgeois, built in 1875. This listed building has housed:
- A shoe factory (1875–1920)
- The girls’ municipal school (1925–1970)
- The town library (1975–2010)
Its transformation into an art center in 2015 preserved its historic architecture while creating modern exhibition spaces.
